WHAT IS A HOIST & WINCH ?
Both Material Handling Equipment this article covers the differences between Hoists & Winches as well as Electric, Manual and Air /Pneumatic.

Continue to read the below article to find out the various different types and applications used.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF HOISTS & WINCHES ?
WHAT IS A PNEUMATIC HOIST ?
Also known as air hoists. Pneumatic are very similar in features to an electric chain hoist but they are powered by compressed air feed. Furthermore they are restricted by the need for a suitable electric power supply.
WHAT IS AN ELECTRIC HOIST ?
Electric Hoists are used for lifting or lowering material. Firstly electric chain hoists use an electric motor. Secondly they use a controller to lift, lower and accelerate or decelerate the speed.
WHAT IS A MANUAL HOIST ?
Used in environments where electricity is impractical or not available. Without electronics, they are also an economical solution when you don’t need to lift every day. Ideal for construction, engineering, logging and mining industries.
WHAT IS A MANUAL WINCH ?
They use self-gripping jaws instead of spools to move rope or wire through the winch. By moving a handle back and forth, they allow one person to move objects several tons in weight.
WHAT IS AN ELECTRIC WINCH ?
Fitted with a powered automatic style brake. They automatically suspend or hold the load, when the handle winding ceases.
