When the shipyard, The Yard Brisbane contacted us, they had a job that nobody else wanted to do. The task was to remove the cable from a non-functioning winch drum on the aft deck of the SL Botany tugboat, which was on the hardstand in a shed at approximately 10m above ground level. The cable weighed 5.5 tonne and had to be removed without damaging the newly renovated vessel. Absolute Lifting and Safety were recommended, to The Yard Brisbane, as the team to engage when their regular contractors were unwilling to take on the task. Using our unique mobile plant equipment, we took on the task.

‘The Absolute Lifting and Safety team assisted The Yard Brisbane (TYB) shipyard with a task to remove approximately 400 to 500m of 52mm steel cable from a client’s tug vessel. Due to a non-functioning winch, this task it was declined by regular contractor groups used by TYB. The Absolute Lifting and Safety team not only saved TYB with the means to take on this job but did so with professional enthusiasm. ‘The team consulted well and together Absolute Lifting and Safety and TYB resolved challenges presented to safely remove and dispose the cable.’
